Job Description

Overview:

We are actively seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Estimator with expertise in new construction weatherproofing projects. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in construction estimating, particularly in areas such as fluid or sheet waterproofing, sealants, spray foam, and traffic coatings. Key responsibilities include analyzing blueprints, specifications, and proposals while effectively collaborating with clients, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and proposals to deliver precise cost estimates.
  • Conduct quantity takeoffs and assess subcontractor bids for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Work closely with clients, subcontractors, and the project management team to ensure comprehensive understanding of project scopes and requirements.
  • Identify project risks and formulate contingency plans to manage potential cost overruns.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost estimates and project budgets to management and clients.
  • Negotiate favorable pricing with subcontractors and vendors to benefit both the company and clients.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and labor costs to maintain accuracy in estimates.
  • Keep thorough records and documentation of estimates, change orders, and project amendments.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of company-wide cost estimation processes and practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field is preferred, though not mandatory.
  • At least 5 years of experience in construction cost estimation is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software is essential.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
  • Proven skills in budgeting, scheduling, negotiating, and cost control.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills are vital.
  • High familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.

Additional Information:

  • Travel: Required to visit job sites. Travel expenses will be covered as applicable.
  • Work Environment: Primarily office-based with occasional site visits to construction sites.
